I went to school with Aly, I did cheer with her since middle school. She was the sweetest girl, gave so many compliments to everyone. Found the good in people. She was THAT girl. She was the girl that everyone wanted to be friends with. This article is UNNECESSARY and heartless. She is not here to defend herself. You can make an article to spread fentanyl awareness WITHOUT using her name. You even made an article about Roy Mora.. another minor.. what’s wrong with you?! If a family member or a really good friend of yours passed away and someone decided to make an article about it without your consent. Especially if it didn’t make your friend or family look good. You would be pissed. In RESPECT for Alys family and friends, delete this unnecessary article. Do better.
aly is one of my closest friends and one of the most incredible people i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. every person that has interacted with her has been blown away by her kindness, enthusiasm, and positivity. she’s been involved in many corners of our small community, through participation in cheer, clubs, and volunteer work. her kindness and commitment to our community is unparalleled, especially during a time of extreme apathy from people our age. while i believe it is important to report on local news, there was a better way to go about this. many of the details provided in this article are grossly personal and incredibly distasteful to share, especially considering she was a minor at the time. i implore you to consider how this article would make you feel had it been written about your child, sister, or friend. furthermore, aly is so much more than her death. her many accolades demonstrate her commitment to making our world a better place, and i wish that you took the opportunity highlight the many positive impacts she made within our community. when aly passed, we lost a beautiful soul and a wonderful community member. while it is important to spread awareness about the fentanyl crisis in mendocino county, this article would have had the same effect if you preserved her identity and did not publish her name. not only does it cause unnecessary harm to the many people that love her so dearly, i felt the inclusion of her name and intimate details surrounding the night she passed away incredibly unnecessary, especially considering she was a minor at the time. in the future, i hope you make more conscious choices in reporting on sensitive stories.
How are you allowed to use my daughters name she was a minor when this happened i will find a way to sue you for this i promise you take this down immediattly.how is this allowed?
Dear Mr. Sanchezllanes. I am sorry this is upsetting to you. It must be incredibly painful. We are reporting this story because your daughter's death is being prosecuted as a murder. It is not being treated as a simple overdose. The prosecutors are hoping to prevent more young people like her from dying. They are acting in the interest of the community.
How dare you write about my sister and not write about who she is. She was the most compassionate and genuine person in the universe. She does not deserve to be used for fame.

I get that you want to be raw and real with people and show the dark and gruesome side to opiate addiction, specifically the horrors in the lives of teenagers to bring a sense of surrealism to perhaps prevent more innocent lives being taken... but I feel it's a bit over the top and innopropriate to post this young womens personal messages ( who was a teenager at the time), especially without her parents/family's consent, and then apologize just to not take it down or at least edit your article. A lot of people in the Fort Bragg community are grieving heavily still and this needs to be a bit more censored out of respect, if you like it or not. I personally did not know this young women, but have a few friends I went to cheer with who ended up cheering with her later on, and this isn't really " TEAM SPIRIT", like the little girl deserved after her death. Can you just edit this please? Your career cannot possibly overlap your heart for the mother to ask you to delete this in a comment section, and you keep it posted.
additionally, if you are going to defend this story by claiming it spreads awareness and may prevent future overdoses, i urge you to include information on identifying signs of addiction and overdose, local resources for overdose prevention, and community efforts to combat the opioid epidemic. in this article, there was no mention of narcan, community resources for those struggling, or endorsement of positive outlets like youth sports. there are many incredible organizations working to make positive impacts in our community that you ignored. instead, you chose to air intimate details about the tragic death of a minor. this article does nothing to prevent further cases.
Please delete the post regarding my sister Alyson. My beautiful sister died 579 days ago and her soul was the most beautiful in existence. She is dead now and the post that you made is incredibly disrespectful to her name. From the moment she was born she knew better than to disrespect the dead. You have had many decades to learn this lesson and you still chose to post this inconsiderate article. This shows how much greed you have in your heart. Using her name to get some attention is insulting to my family and I. May you be free from this greed and delete this post. May you find peace and compassion in your heart. All I wish is for her happiness and to hug her once more. Losing my sister was the most painful thing to ever happen to me in all eternity. To see her talked about in such an unsophisticated and cruel manner charged the pain to an unbearable degree. She could never say such awful things about you, so why would you do it to her?
you’re weird. disrespectful & insensitive. my heart bleeds that her own family has to beg for you to take this down. aly is one my closests best friends for years & she does not deserve this at all. this does not do justice. we lost an incredible, loyal, glowing soul. anyone who knew her personally knows that she was full of life & an indescribable treasure. this is not the right way to “spread awareness” this girl’s life is not your business. do better. the lack of empathy is beyond. she cannot defend herself. her family & friends are her voice. TAKE THIS DOWN! we are grieving & forever will be.
This is what is wrong with today's media. They only give one side of the story no matter who it hurts in the process. They just want the "wow" factor. If you want to tell the story you should obtain all of the necessary information to give a comprehensive version. Those snap chat messages are are not representative of the person Aly was. And let's not forget, she is the victim here. Not the people responsible for her death. You should be ashamed of yourself.
this is actually so disheartening to read. alyson had such an amazing and genuine soul. i’ve known aly since we were around seven and met in 2nd grade, she was my first best friend. she was the kind of person to see someone alone and invite them to hang out to make them feel included. the 10 years that i got with alyson where i got to see her grow into a beautiful and empathetic young woman were the best years of my life and i wouldn’t trade it for anything; this article is in no way helping her case or anyone else. there is more to alyson than just her death. she had hopes and dreams just like everyone else and in no way was she the type of person to disrespect others like this. instead of hurting others, you need to do better research into what you should have been writing about which is PROVIDING RESOURCES to people who struggle with addiction; not writing a story about a minor who you have no knowledge about. “Fort Bragg’s Girl’s Fentanyl Death…” her name is ALYSON. do us all a favor and take down this article, you’re a sorry excuse for a writer.
My beautiful sister I love you with my entire heart, mind, and soul. You inspire me to be resilient everyday. No matter what I will always have you in my heart. Thank you for protecting me in both life and death. I appreciate everything you did for this world. The art you made was so truly beautiful. I wish I could tell you how proud I am of you for being such an amazing person. Thank you for teaching me everything I know today. I love you always and forever.💜
We have lost so many to Fentanyl overdoses. Especially heart wrenching to have lost a beautiful heart and soul with so much life ahead. It's a truly dangerous world out there for our young people. Decisions made can cost a life in a second. Sending a prayer for blessings and grace to the family who hurt everyday. May some kind of justice come to all.

Beautifully said :)
She is a minor and the victim. And she was so much more than what your story portrays. Shame on you! Take it down.

That gives you no right to deny her peace. She is already dead how much more can she give you. She was 17.

This breaks my heart that you felt entitled to post this. Have some empathy.
This writing is shameful. There is no depth to anything you have wrote. Where is the humanity, integrity, and soul in this writing?
