Mendocino County election officials estimate that 16,572 ballots remain to be processed following the June 2 primary election.
According to the county’s initial unprocessed ballot report, 9,177 ballots had been counted as of Thursday afternoon. The largest share of outstanding ballots consists of 15,148 vote-by-mail ballots received on or before Election Day.
Election officials also reported 862 vote-by-mail ballots received after Election Day, four ballots forwarded by other counties, and 558 provisional ballots awaiting processing.
An additional 233 ballots remain in the curing process because of missing or nonmatching signatures.
The county expects to release its next vote count update by 4 p.m. on June 11.
