# Wildfire Prompts Closure of Highway 101 in Hopland

A rapidly spreading wildfire that began near 3600 Feliz Creek Road has grown to more than 500 acres, prompting the evacuation of downtown Hopland and surrounding areas.

Caltrans issued a traffic alert around 5:15 p.m. stating that Highway 101 is fully closed from Burke Hill Road to the Route 175 junction in Hopland.

A temporary evacuation point has been established at the Mendocino County Office of Education, 2240 Old River Road in Ukiah. Mandatory evacuations are in effect for zones MEN-2UKV29 and MEN-2HOP04\. Evacuation warnings have been issued for zones MEN-2UKV20, MEN-2UKV21, and MEN-2UKV23.

A small animal shelter has been established at the Mendocino County Animal Shelter, 298 Plant Road, and a large animal shelter has been established at the Redwood Empire Fairgrounds, 1055 N. NorCal Livestock Evacuation posted a note on their Facebook page: :If your animals are in danger, NorCal Livestock Evacuation team is mobilizing for evacuations. If you need to get your animals out of the fire zone, our Evac number is 707-234-7193.”
