It's interesting to note the rate comparisons they used. Nothing in Lake or Humboldt counties where wages are comparable to Ukiah, they use Healdsburg, Peteluma etc. where average wage is near double ours.
When rural poor Republicans vote for wealthy Republican, expect cuts along with rate increases to line those rich Republican pockets while the defund services.
Not everything is a partisan issue. The questions the council needed to ask included how necessary (1) all the capital improvements were (2) cost sharing with the water utility re: recycled water (3) building the second capital reserve. Also, how many ratepayers are on budgets that can't take a $40 increase over 5 years? Is there really help for them? Seniors are in quiet distress around the county, should they be our priorities or replacing sewage piping that isn't leaking? Or that is leaking X% amount?
