The "Timber Fire" Outside Covelo Reaches Twenty Acres
Containment at 15 percent

A wildfire burning on a wooded slope southwest of Covelo has grown to 20 acres, according to a CAL FIRE spokesperson. The blaze has been named the Timber Fire.
Several dozen firefighters responded, including personnel from CalGuard and wildland fire crews based at the California Conservation Corps Mendocino Center in Willits.
By early evening, forward motion of the fire was halted, with containment estimated at 15 percent.
The fire was first registered by wildfire detection cameras and is visible on the Anthony Peak Lookout 2 camera. It located near Eel River Ranch Road and Judge Webber Lane.
An air attack plane coordinated the response, leading three air tankers and a two helicopters. Dispatched ground resources include three bulldozers, two water tenders and nine fire engines.
No evacuation orders were issued.
Sherri Wise, the CAL FIRE spokesperson, said the fire did involve some structures, but that the risk to additional structures was low due to the remote location.
