The same people who complain about a “grossly oversized” government are the first to complain about lack of services, poor roads, lack of law enforcement, etc.
Where do you propose cutting services or the meager 1200 person county workforce in our poor rural county? It seems to me that more of our problems result from understaffed departments and doing things like combining clerk/assessor’s jobs to “save money.”
I agree. The problem was years in the making, and it won't be an easy thing to undo. The first step is to acknowledge the problems created by the BOS. Like like trying to get rid of Cubbison (so the BOS could consolidate departments) but wound up costing taxpayers millions. And an inability to manage our County's finance but instead using one-time funds (covid funds intended for small businesses) to balance its budget. Refusing to address the issue of a structural budget deficit and allowing the County's regulatory agencies to strangle business and home ownership.
Tourism is the number one contributor of outside monies into the county.
This is an example of institutionalize civil war in which parties fight over the spoils of a grotesquely sized government.

Consider this -- that the reason for lack of services is the oversized, incompetent government.

This is why we vote. Cheers.
