Excellent reporting. Sadly, county regulators failed to safeguard the public interest and sided with Chevron’s minions instead of local residents. Even worse a majority of the Board of Supervisors let it happen, (my own Supervisor Norvell included) even after the community repeatedly and diligently pleaded with them not too. And for what? The only winners in this tragedy are corporate thugs. Its not fun being reminded of how the fissile fuel industry exploits us or of how government officials fail to prevent it from happening, but thank you Elise and Supervisor Williams for doing the right thing in the face of this thuggery.
Wowza, I remember getting into some of this, but this is thorough and appalling.
Thank you.
Thank you for this thorough analysis of the matter, Elise.
