An ICE Arrest in Cleone, CA
A 46-year-old Mexican national was taken into custody in a targeted action on Wednesday

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrested a 46-year-old man in Cleone, just north of Fort Bragg, on Tuesday, July 15, in a targeted enforcement operation. Community members said the arrest took place in the trailer-park area.
ICE’s San Francisco field office said it took Juan Arenas-Cinega, a Mexican national, into custody. According to the agency, Arenas-Cinega has multiple convictions for driving under the influence and for spousal abuse, had previously been deported, and illegally re-entered the United States — a federal felony. He is in ICE custody pending removal, the agency said.
In a separate statement, the City of Fort Bragg said the Fort Bragg Police Department had informed it that ICE “conducted targeted enforcement operations within the community today involving individuals with criminal cases.” ICE later advised the department that the operation had concluded and that federal personnel had left the area, the City said.
The City stressed that it “was not involved in directing or coordinating the federal enforcement activity” and reported “no reported impacts to City services or municipal operations.”
Under California’s sanctuary law, the California Values Act (SB 54), state and local police are generally barred from using their resources to assist federal immigration enforcement, though the law carves out exceptions for people convicted of certain serious or violent crimes.
MendoLocal.News has not independently verified ICE’s account of Arenas-Cinega’s criminal history or immigration status.
