Agency Fire Burning in Covelo
Mendocino Sheriff has ordered evacuations for East of Mina Road
Update/Corrections: The size of the fire was reported to be just 2 acres, not 15 acres (July 7, 2026 4:49 p.m.) Forward progress stopped. (5:22 p.m.)
A 2-acre fire is reported at the 24200 block of Agency Road in Covelo.
Watch duty reporter Danilla Sands said evacuations have been ordered for East of Mina Road, with Mina Road being the egress route to Highway 162 into Covelo.
The fire was first reported by Miranda Schwegler, a regional captain for Watch Duty, at 3:33 p.m. Schwegler said resources are at the scene of vegetation fire “burning in light, flashy fuels at a moderate rate of speed.”
As of 5 p.m. all air craft were released from the incident, according to a Watch Duty report by Danilla Sands.
