UKIAH, Calif. — A collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle closed southbound U.S. Highway 101 just north of the Highway 253 on-ramp on Sunday night. The California Highway Patrol's online incident log lists the crash as a fatality.

The first report came in at 8:23 p.m., according to the log kept by CHP's Ukiah dispatch center. CAL FIRE was notified at 8:25 p.m., when dispatch also noted that the motorcycle and rider were in the middle of the lanes. Dispatch notified the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office, which serves as coroner, at 8:28 p.m. At 8:31 p.m., a CHP unit at the scene logged the crash as a fatality. Caltrans was notified at 8:34 p.m.

One responding law enforcement unit was stuck in highway construction near Hopland when it was dispatched, according to the log.

All southbound lanes were closed by 8:38 p.m. CHP began letting traffic through slowly in the No. 2 lane about eight minutes later. The motorcycle, which the log describes as a fully dressed Harley-Davidson, was towed. As of 10:02 p.m., Caltrans had the No. 1 lane closed.

CHP has not released the identity of the person who died or other details about the crash. A sergeant was still at the scene late Sunday, according to the agency's Ukiah office.
